In this blog, I’ll publish a series of articles that demystify the B Lab™ Standards. Each post will explain the B Corp Certification process in clear, straightforward language. For example, I’ll explore what the requirements mean and how they apply to different businesses. I’ll also explain what evidence may be needed. As a result, organisations can prepare with greater clarity and confidence.

Exploring the B Lab Impact Framework

The current B Lab Standards include Foundation Requirements and seven Impact Topics. Together, they cover the governance structures, policies, practices and measurable performance expected during B Corp Certification. These areas are:

  • Climate Action (CA)
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI)
  • Government Affairs & Collective Action (GACA)

Improving ESG and Sustainability Performance

This series will be useful for for-profit businesses that want to become Certified B Corporations. However, certification doesn’t need to be the main objective. Other organisations can also use the standards to assess and improve their performance. In addition, the framework can strengthen governance, accountability and the management of environmental and social impacts. Therefore, it can support a greater positive contribution to people and the planet.
