Nurture thinking to build a better future

Engage with young people to encourage thought, reinforce dreams and develop interests. Have meaningful discussions about life, the planet, the future and the past. Tell them anything is possible with positive attitudes and participating personalities. Create an agenda: aim high, but be realistic.

It may be all we can do to help build a better future.

The next generation will excel without today's attitudes and thinking limits. The future is unknown. The here-and-now is a footnote in history, so learn from the past to affect a better future. Shift focus away from today's norms and standards towards questions about tomorrow's world.

Engaged minds will fill in the gaps.

And therein lies the challenge. Tomorrow’s workforce and career landscape is unknown. Today's skills either will not exist or will be artisanal practice. Strict instruction in hard skills is pointless when thinking and technology advances rapidly, so focus on soft skills and personal competence instead. Instantaneous obsolesce is a feature in modern life, so build characters that will not succumb to fleeting trends.

Never underestimate thinking power, and always nurture it in young people.
